Today we inducted two new members into our club—Steve Schmidt (sponsor, Peg Wilkerson) and Will Renken (sponsor, Joanne Blaser). Welcome. Joe Clinton, a new member last year, gave us a brief overview of his life. He is a native Rockfordian, graduating from Jefferson HS and NIU in accounting. He has worked for McGladry Pullen, Morrisey Accountants and is now with Williams Manny Insurance. He lives in Stillman Valley with his wife and three children, a 7 year old daughter and sons, 5 and 3. John Goddard from the downtown Rotary club attended our meeting, asking for volunteers to help him at the Rotary District Convention on April 30th and May 1st from 3-6 in the afternoon. It is being held at the Clock Tower Resort. Please consider doing this service if you are able.

Since this was also our business meeting, we heard several committee reports.

Tracey Eastman thanked Lynn and Terry Godina, Marcia Mueller and husband, Chuck Prorok, Nancy and Jeff Bieck and two of their grandchildren for helping at the Rock River Valley Food Pantry.

Chris Weber encouraged everyone to get out there and sell raffle tickets. A relatively easy method would be to send a letter with tickets and self-addressed stamped envelope enclosed to all of your friends and acquaintances. A sample letter was sent by email. June 8th is our final day! Jon Whitlock announced that we made our dollar goal for the Paul Harris Foundation, by the skin of our teeth. He encouraged everyone to participate. The goal is $100 from every Rotarian. Dick Wang would like input as to the date and place of our Charter Night. Choices are May 15 or May 22 at either Aldeen Golf Course or Prairie View Course in Byron. Both would be steak dinners with a possible round of golf prior to dinner.
