Steve Currington, Tony Richardson and Gary Love attended our meeting as our speakers. They represented an organization in Rockford, based at North Love Baptist Church, where approx. 300 people meet on Friday nights. 80% of our population is addicted to something—prescription drugs, porn, caffeine, sugar just to mention a few. Steve told his personal story of addiction and his road to his faith in Jesus Christ.

He was called to write a curriculum for adults experiencing addictions and they now have over 687 chapters using lay ministers to teach others to have hope in Jesus as their personal Savior. They have an 82% success rate and how have also developed curriculums for women and children, and they are in 19 foreign countries.

He also spoke about their program entitled R.U.T.H. “Reformers Unanimous Transitional Housing”. They have purchase the former Alma Nelson nursing home and are going to revamp it to be a woman’s home. At the moment they are trying to raise $25,000 for a new roof to make it habitable for women who are in their recovery program.

They are doing a marvelous job both for the Rockford community and in their faith journey to help recovering addicts all over the world.

In total we sold 872 tickets, which after subtracting the cash first prize and adding our excess funds from previous years, will allow us to donate $9070 to our various charities and scholarships. Our fundraiser award breakfast is scheduled for Tuesday, June 23rd. All ticket winners should be notified of the breakfast by their ticket seller and all charity recipients should be notified by their sponsor. It should be a fun morning!
