Glenda began her talk this morning with a couple of stories about girls that have been helped by the Outreach Program of the Girl Scouts.

This program is currently placing 331 girls in 32 troops and the theme this year is Healthy Relationship-Making Good Decisions. They concentrate on basic reading and writing skills, have practical day-to-day discussions and take field trips to the Discovery Center, Camp McCormick and the Coronado. Most of the girls have never visited these venues. United Way, cookie profits and community fundraisers fund them.

Since the drying up of funds, they rely on cookie sale profits to continue this outreach program. Besides money though, they also need volunteers. Some companies allow employees to interact with these girls during company time, which is wonderful.Remember:

Raffle tickets are now on sale. Money must be turned in before June 9, 2009. We all have to sell, sell, sell in order to reach our goal and provide help to the eight local organizations we have chosen. We are halfway to our goal.
